Doug earned his bachelor`s degree in Clinical Social Work and Psychology and later his Master`s degree in Behavioral Science in 1993 from the UNLV.

Leaving a successful career in 1998, as Chief Operating Officer for a company servicing Fortune 500 companies, Doug began his own company, Doug Nielsen Communications, where he provides customized speaking, training, and executive coaching services to business and organizations across the country.

In 2008, Doug joined the ranks of the top 10% of speakers when he was awarded the designation of CSP, Certified Speaking Professional, from the National Speaker`s Association.

His first book, Take Life By The Helm: Proven Strategies for Gaining Control, was released during the summer of 2009. Hall of fame speaker and best-selling author, Joe Calloway wrote:
